Job Description
Children’s Enhanced Social Worker – Child Protection Team – Wrexham County Borough Council
Wrexham County Borough Council is looking for a skilled and motivated Enhanced Social Worker to join their Social Care team under the All Wales Pledge. This role is crucial in safeguarding children, adults at risk, and their families through high-quality social work intervention. Based at County Offices, Lambpit Street, this is a varied and challenging post involving complex caseloads and active participation in duty rota responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a complex caseload, including high-risk and court-involved cases across children and adults’ services.
- Undertake assessments, create Care & Support Plans, and commission services within budgetary guidelines.
- Deliver safeguarding interventions for children and adults at risk, including Deprivation of Liberty (DoLS) and Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) assessments.
- Provide crisis response support via the duty system on a rota basis, handling immediate safeguarding concerns.
- Chair care planning, continuing health care, and safeguarding meetings as required alongside management.
- Mentor and support social work students and less experienced practitioners, contributing to quality assurance through case audits and reflective supervision.
- Prepare detailed reports for court proceedings and represent the service at legal hearings.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with Social Work England registration.
- Substantial experience in child protection, adult safeguarding, and court work.
- Knowledge of relevant social work legislation, including safeguarding frameworks and mental capacity/DoLS procedures.
- Ability to manage complex cases independently and in partnership with multi-agency professionals.
- Strong mentoring, supervision, and leadership skills.
Additional Information:
- Office-based role at Wrexham County Borough Council, Lambpit Street.
- Full-time: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00).
- Inside IR35.
- Duty rota participation required.
