Vale of Glamorgan Council is looking for an experienced Social Worker to join one of our dedicated Family Support Teams. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children on the Child Protection Register, children requiring Care and Support, and those in Care Proceedings.

Following significant investment, we are strengthening our Family Support Teams to ensure practitioners benefit from a manageable caseload, excellent support, and the time needed to focus on meaningful engagement with children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality assessments and interventions aligned to a strengths-based approach.
  • Work collaboratively with children, families, and multi-agency professionals to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the ‘Building on Strengths’ model, placing relationships at the centre of practice.
  • Prepare detailed reports and court documentation where required.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with Social Work England registration.
  • Proven experience in child protection, care proceedings, and statutory social work.
  • Strong understanding of Welsh safeguarding legislation and family support frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and partnership-working skills.

Why join Vale of Glamorgan Council?

  • You will be part of a supportive, committed team in a Local Authority that prioritises wellbeing and professional development.
  • You will work in a positive, resourceful organisation that values innovation and promotes resilience and stability within its social work services.

Additional Information:

  • Based at the Docks Office.
  • Full-time: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00).
  • Inside IR35.
  • Pay aligned to All Wales Pledge.
