Job Description

Senior Practitioner – Child Protection Team – London Borough of Bexley

The London Borough of Bexley is looking for an experienced Senior Practitioner to join its dedicated Child Protection Team. This crucial role focuses on safeguarding children by managing complex child protection cases, working collaboratively to reduce risk and promote positive outcomes for vulnerable families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of high-risk Child Protection cases, including those progressing through legal proceedings.
  • Undertake comprehensive Section 47 assessments and contribute to Child Protection Conferences.
  • Work in partnership with families, multi-agency professionals, and safeguarding partners to safeguard children and reduce risks.
  • Support and mentor less experienced social workers within the team, modelling best practice.
  • Contribute to care planning and permanency arrangements, including PLO and court work.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with Social Work England registration.
  • Extensive experience within Child Protection and safeguarding services.
  • Strong understanding of child protection legislation, care proceedings, and multi-agency safeguarding protocols.
  • Proven ability to manage complex cases and make evidence-based decisions.
  • Skilled in court report writing, risk assessment, and partnership working.

Additional Information:

  • Location: Bexley Civic Offices (hybrid working available).
  • Full-time: 36 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:30).
  • Inside IR35.
