Job Description
Senior Practitioner (Children’s) – Duty & Assessment Team – Worcestershire County Council
Are you a skilled and passionate Social Worker ready to take the next step in your career? Worcestershire County Council is seeking experienced Senior Practitioners to join their patch-based Duty & Assessment Teams covering Worcester & Malvern and Redditch & Wychavon. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of Worcestershire Children First, delivering high-quality services to children and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake statutory S17 and S47 assessments and manage cases through to closure, step down, or transfer to safeguarding teams.
- Deliver high-quality assessments and interventions to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.
- Work within a supportive, stable team structure with a focus on reflective practice, supervision, and manageable caseloads.
- Collaborate closely with families, carers, and multi-agency professionals to safeguard children and promote their wellbeing.
- Contribute to a culture of learning and continuous improvement within a permanent management team.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with Social Work England registration.
- Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualified experience (for higher rate).
- Experience in children’s duty, assessments, and child protection work.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory responsibilities.
- Excellent communication, assessment, and decision-making skills.
Additional Information:
- Office-based across Worcester & Malvern or Redditch & Wychavon.
- Full-time: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:30).
- Contract: 31/03/2025 to 22/06/2025.
- Inside IR35.
Pay Rates:
- £33.30 umbrella/ltd (5+ years post-qualified).
- £30.57 umbrella/ltd (under 5 years post-qualified).
