Job Description
Social Worker (Adults) – Learning Disabilities Team – Somerset Council
Somerset Council is recruiting a Social Worker to join their Adults Services division within the Learning Disabilities Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with adults with learning disabilities and their families, supporting them to live fulfilling and independent lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of adults with learning disabilities and assess their individual needs.
- Undertake Care Act assessments and reviews, ensuring person-centred support planning.
- Promote the wellbeing and safeguarding of service users in line with statutory responsibilities.
- Work closely with families, carers, and multi-agency partners to achieve positive outcomes.
- Support service users in accessing community resources, services, and appropriate funding streams.
- Maintain accurate and timely records in line with Somerset Council’s practice standards.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with Social Work England registration.
- Previous experience working within adult social care, ideally with learning disabilities.
- Strong knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding procedures.
- Excellent communication, assessment, and partnership-working skills.
Additional Information:
- Office-based at Brympton Way, Somerset.
- Full-time: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00).
