Job Description
Social Worker – Family Safeguarding Service – Swindon Borough Council
We are recruiting 3 experienced Social Workers to join Swindon Borough Council’s dynamic Family Safeguarding Service. You will be working in a highly supportive and well-structured environment designed to provide the best outcomes for children and families.
About the role: As part of our Family Safeguarding Service, you will work within a pod structure (5 Social Workers + 1 Manager) to ensure effective case management, professional oversight, and regular team support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake comprehensive and timely assessments, including parenting assessments.
- Create outcome-focused care plans in collaboration with children and their families.
- Lead and manage care proceedings in both public and private court settings.
- Deliver permanency planning, including progressing to adoption where appropriate.
- Assess and manage complex risk situations with clear analysis and reporting.
- Maintain high-quality case records with detailed evidence of your interventions.
About you:
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- Significant post-qualification experience within statutory children’s services.
- Strong experience in court work, including public law care proceedings.
- Skilled in risk assessment, safeguarding, and permanency planning.
- Effective communication and multi-agency working abilities.
What we offer:
- £46.32 per hour (Inside IR35).
- £100 per week (for candidates living 50+ miles from Swindon) towards accommodation or mileage.
